The Maasai Mara is named after the Maasai people that inhabit the region and Maasai word” Mara” which means spotted. Maasai Mara is situated in south-west Kenya and is one of Africa’s Greatest Wildlife Reserves. Maasai Mara National Reserve stretches 1,510 sq. km (580 sq. miles) and rises 1,500-2,170 meters above sea level. It hosts over 95 species of mammals and over 570 recorded species of birds. This is the “World Cup of Wildlife”, It’s about 270 km from the capital Nairobi and takes about 4-5 hours by road or 40-45 minutes by flight. With the wildebeest migration in July – October, this marks the best time to visit to see this incredible movement of animals. Nevertheless, it’s safe to say, Maasai Mara is an all year round destination with the big cats, and all the big games still in the Maasai Mara Ecosystem.

Crowned by Mount Kilimanjaro, Africa’s highest peak, Amboseli National Parks is one of Kenya’s most popular parks. The name “Amboseli” comes from a Maasai word meaning “salty dust”, and it is one of the best places in Africa to view large herds of elephants up close. Nature lovers can explore five different habitats here ranging from the dried-up bed of Lake Amboseli, wetlands with sulfur springs, the savannah, and woodlands. In the late afternoon, head to the vast East Tsavo to watch the game. The game watching in Tsavo East will be relaxing and enjoyable.
