Head out of Nairobi and have a nice day in the lush green tea fields of Limuru. Just a short drive from the city, it will take you into a world of endless green fields, dense unspoiled forests, and an era of enjoying refreshing drinks and lazy afternoons on the balcony.
This is the Kiambethu tea plantation, the exact place where Kenya started growing tea 100 years ago. A trip to this beautiful tea plantation is your chance to enjoy the land in Ngong Hills and learn about the history of the tea plantation and colonial life in Kenya. Suitable for this elegant place, you will enjoy a cup of tea and learn about the history of the farm upon arrival. You will also learn about the tea planting process, and then personally go to the fields to watch the rows of dark green tea.
You will continue your journey to the nearby forest, where an expert guide will accompany you, pointing out local plants, birds and flowers. Another enjoyment: Colobus monkeys live in this space, and you may have the opportunity to see them up close.
Then walk back to the house, enjoy a pre-lunch drink on the terrace, and stare at the tea plantation and Ngong Hills again. Lunch arrived soon-it’s a three-course vegetarian feast, with products coming directly from the plantation’s own garden.
