The safari begins with a spectacular destination Maasai Mara well described as“World Cup of Wildlife”, It’s about 270 km from the capital Nairobi city and takes about 4-5 hours by road or 40-45 minutes by flight. Maasai Mara is an all year round destination with the big cats, and all the big game.
Naivasha is known as a world class birding destination and best place for camping. The waters of the lake attracts great range of animals to these shores. Towers of Giraffes meander among the acacia, an obstinacy Buffalo comfortably wallow in the swamps and troops monkeys roam freely while the bloat of hippo sleeps the day out in the shallows.
The climax of the safari leads us to what is described as the bird haven, Lake Nakuru National Park, the first gazetted bird sanctuary in Kenya in 1960 and the park with the highest number of rhinos. The lake covers about a third of the park. In addition the park is good for game viewing and calm for relaxation.
Pick up from Nairobi at 06:30hrs, and drive to the Maasai Mara Reserve; the domain of the Maasai, Kenya’s cattle-herding nomads determined to preserve their traditions. A brief stopover at the View Point to marvel at the beauty of The Great Rift Valley. We arrive at the Masai Mara in time for (Lunch) after which embark on an afternoon -till evening Game drive in search for wild game; Black manned lion for which Mara is famous for, cheetahs, buffaloes, wildebeests, zebras, grants gazelles and even the rare rhino might come out of the thicket for you. The Mara is a spectacular expanse of open grassland which covers 1,510 km² in the south-west corner of Kenya. Wildlife roams freely throughout the vast Masai Mara Ecosystem. There are no boundaries or fences to obstruct the movement and migration of animals. The Masai Mara and the Serengeti effectively form a continuous ecosystem and jointly host the annual spectacle of the migration.
After breakfast leave for a full day game drive with picnic lunch at Mara river migration area. Spend the day in Masai Mara, Kenya’s most popular game reserve where you will have the best opportunity of spotting the Big Five – lion, leopard, buffalo, rhino, and elephant. Game drives are flexible, with the option of going out with picnic lunch boxes to spend an entire day in the park, or you can choose to have early morning and late afternoon game drives. You will also have the option of visiting a local Masai cultural village (at a cost of US$20 per person).
After Early morning breakfast check out and exit the park with en-route game drive. Drive to Lake Naivasha arriving in the afternoon for Lunch, leisure, and relaxation; In the afternoon take a boat ride and visit the Crescent Island for picturesque views the lake and Mount Longonot. You’ll spot hippos, buffaloes, giraffes, antelopes and a variety of water birds on your way to the Island Private Sanctuary. The lake and its environment have over 400 species of birds -including pelicans, African fish eagles, African darter, cormorants and the lesser flamingos which are migratory).
After breakfast, you will depart for Lake Nakuru arrives early in time for a mid-morning game drive. Later, check in to your Lodge for Lunch, followed by a brief relaxation as you wait for another afternoon game drive.
Lake Nakuru is often referred to as the “Pink Lake” is a renowned paradise for Bird Watchers with its high population of birds, the most famous being the thousands of flamingos that form a very beautiful deep pink coloration around the edges of the lakeshore. Apart from these flamingos, there are also over 400 species of birds visiting the lake. Animals can also be sighted in the park including the Rothschild’s Giraffe, Black and White Rhino, and Waterbuck, Reedbuck, Lion, Buffalo, Leopard, Baboon and several other species of plains game.
After Early morning breakfast check out and embark on a morning en-route game drive as we exit the park to journey back to Nairobi.
