The Maasai Mara is named after the Maasai people that inhabit the region and Maasai word” Mara” which means spotted. Maasai Mara is situated in south-west Kenya and is one of Africa’s Greatest Wildlife Reserves. Maasai Mara National Reserve stretches 1,510 sq. km (580 sq. miles) and rises 1,500-2,170 meters above sea level. It hosts over 95 species of mammals and over 570 recorded species of birds. This is the “World Cup of Wildlife”, It’s about 270 km from the capital Nairobi and takes about 4-5 hours by road or 40-45 minutes by flight. With the wildebeest migration in July – October, this marks the best time to visit to see this incredible movement of animals. Nevertheless, it’s safe to say, Maasai Mara is an all year round destination with the big cats, and all the big games still in the Maasai Mara Ecosystem.DAY 1: NAIROBI- MASAI MARA
Departure from Nairobi at 0730hrs we drive down the escarpment via the floor of the scenic Great Rift Valley to the world’s famous Maasai Mara Game Reserve. A brief stopover at the View Point to marvel at the beauty of The Great Rift Valley. Arrive in time for lunch at the lodge/camp and spend the early afternoon at leisure. (Its sheer beauty of wide savannah, rolling hills, meandering rivers, riverine forests, forests with a huge concentration of grazing herds, bountiful birdlife and the big five) An Evening Game drive begins at 1600hrs search of wildlife till late in the evening.
DAY 2: MAASAI MARA GAME RESERVE
After breakfast leave for a full day game drive with picnic lunch at Mara river migration area. The day is spent game viewing in Kenya’s finest wildlife park, Maasai Mara National Reserve. Our morning and afternoon game drives take us in search of Africa’s Big Five and the plethora of other wildlife inhabiting this vast Kenyan game reserve.
DAY 3: MAASAI MARA –NAIROBI
After breakfast, en-route game drives through the park as we explore more wildlife. You may opt to visit a local cultural Maasai Village to learn more about this unique tribe that co-exists freely with wildlife. Later departure from the Mara region with En route Lunch at Narok town. Arrive in Nairobi in the evening.
